The Chariot tarot card

Two sphinxes pull in opposite directions, yet the chariot moves forward — because the one driving knows where they’re going.

Upright keywords: Will · Forward motion · Steering · Victory · Resolve

Reversed keywords: Out of control · Unclear direction · Inner friction · Quitting halfway

Upright

The figure in the Chariot holds no reins; they bend two opposing forces into one direction by sheer will. This card is about “I’ve decided, and nothing’s going to stop me.” There’s resistance ahead and contradiction within, but you want to arrive more than either of them. What’s needed now isn’t more thinking — it’s locking onto the goal and putting your foot down.

Reversed

The chariot’s still moving, but the wheel’s gone loose. The reversed Chariot is losing control, or being worn down to a standstill by all the inner tug-of-war. Stop and ask one thing: where am I actually going? Once the direction is clear, the power falls back into place.

This card in love

The relationship needs you to move it forward, and to steer the pace. Don’t let outside voices throw off your direction.

What the card shows

Two sphinxes, one black and one white, and no reins in his hands. He is steering with attention alone. The canopy of stars says the direction came from somewhere higher than the street he is driving down. Note that the chariot is a stone box on wheels — he is armoured, moving, and cannot easily turn.

Work & money

Momentum. Deadlines met by force of will, competition you can actually win, a stretch where discipline outperforms talent. The warning is in the design: this vehicle is built for going forward. If the direction was wrong, speed makes it worse.

How someone sees you

They see you as driven and hard to stop — the person who says they will and then does. It commands respect. Some of them are slightly braced around you, waiting to find out whether they are inside the plan or in the way of it.

Yes or no?

Yes, if you keep going. This is a card that rewards the second half of the effort.

The advice

Pick one thing to finish this week and let the other things be visibly, deliberately late.
